Hello. On the second day in Vienna, we visited Prater Park, Schonbrunn Palace and the old town centre. An interesting offer at the park (apart from all the carnival rides) is the restaurant in the air (see picture); they suspend you in the air while you eat. I guess that's a thing. We are using the subway to get around, and it is excellent. It gets you anywhere, is fast, there is a train about every five minutes, and it is relatively cheap.
Getting back to the train ride to Vienna, apart from the cats meowing (mentioned in the previous post), there was the greyhound being walked down the train carriage. Then a person got on in a stylish tweed waistcoat and matching pants. Must have been a snooker player.
We are staying in an airbnb apartment. It was advertised as a new apartment near the railway station. Well the apartment is in an old building, in a slightly dodgy neigbourhood, and it's 2km from the railway station. As a bonus there is no TV (maybe it was stolen), has the smallest bathroom known to mankind, and is located on a busy and noisy road (with a tram) - and it wasn't cheap. Plus it was a treasure hunt to get the key in the first place. It was down the road, around the corner, in a waterlogged key box chained to a random gate. Apart from that it is a great apartment.
While we were walking around Vienna yesterday we saw some interesting personalities. I saw a group wearing purple fairy dresses and one person in a purple lion suit. Must have been wear crazy purple clothes day. Also there was a "concert" in the park down the road which featured a group singing songs with someone slowly waving a large flag in front of them (I think he was part of the act). It seemed to have been some alternative/fringe event as many of the spectators (who appeared deeply enthralled or had nothing better to do on a Saturday) had shaved or multicoloured hairstyles, black tshirts and/or tattoos.
It's also confirmed, tourists when visiting another country turn into zombies: they don't see other people, are unable to walk in a straight line or to walk any pace beyond what a 90 year old with dodgy knees could manage.
Off to Munich tomorrow (to a hotel).
